DIY: New Years Eve Drink Tags

Happy New Years! Anyone have any fun plans? Anyone hosting a party? Hosting a party can be lots of fun, but one of the problems with having lots of people over is drink identification. Every time we have a family or friends gathering we are always writing our names on our cups, super classy right? 🙂 Well, I made these super cute DIY drink markers for a New Years Party. How cute are they?

Use a variety of papers, washi tapes (for backing) and words to create enough tags unique for each of your guests.

WHAT YOU NEED:

*Scrapbook Paper (a variety)

*Washi Tape

*Cutting Machine (I use a Silhouette Cameo)

*String

*Tape

*Scissors (for cutting string)

INSTRUCTIONS

*You will need a circle and a star SVG file for your cutting machine

*Type your text in each of your tags in your cutting machines software (Be sure to add a circle at the top to put your string thru)

*Once you have your designs complete send them to be cut.

*Once your designs have been cut, pop them out of the scrapbook paper.

*You will want to add some washi tape backing to some of your tags. Cut a strip of scrapbook paper that will fit over the back of your text. Place a piece of washi tape on top of your strip. Tape the stripe to the back of your tag so that the washi tape shows thru the front side of your tag. (see below)

*Cut out thread long enough to attach each tag to a wine or champagne glass.

Pictured above is my cutting file.

After you have sent your files to be cut and have “popped” them out you will have all your tags. Now, we want to had a bit of variety so each guest will have their own unique tag. This is where the washi tape comes in.

Per step 5, you will need to cute a few strips of paper to cover your text and place a piece of washi tape of it. Tape the strip to the back side of your tag so that the washi tape shows thru the front. Do this to as many as you need, using different colors of washi tape or paper.

Now you are all ready for your guests! I’ve added some verbiage ideas below to get you started. Have fun and Happy New Years!
