DIY Farmhouse Fireplace Screen

I am so excited to share this DIY with you! This could possibly be my favorite home decor do it yourself project. Let’s start with a little back story. We have a wood burning fireplace and recently painted it white, check out the before and after here, Fireplace Makeover . We had a black fireplace screen, very traditional, that I wasn’t really a fan of. Once we painted the fireplace, it was thrown out, which left us with no screen. As I was walking thru Hobby Lobby I found two farmhouse style hanging memo “boards”. When I bought them I had no intention of turning them into a fireplace screen. Once I got home I was trying to figure out where I was going to hang them and then I had an idea! I set them in front of the fireplace opening and thought how cute would these be if we turned them into a screen?! Unfortunately I needed a third and I found the first two on sale. I have never been more on a mission in my life, at least it felt like it. No luck, they were out! Then I got the genius idea to check online, I’ve never bought anything from Hobby Lobby online. I found them, yay! Now I could complete my project. Take a look at that after, how gorgeous does that look? Now, let’s learn how to do it.

WHAT YOU NEED:

*3 panels

*Hinges (pictured below)

*1/16″ Drill Bit

*Phillips screwdriver; size 0

*Pencil

INSTRUCTIONS:

*Lay your panels face down.

*Place your hinges on the panels

*Use your pencil to draw circles where the holes in the hinges lay.

*Drill over your pencil markings to create holes for your screws.

*Use your Phillips screwdriver to screw in the hinges.

STEP 1: Lay your panels out, face down.

STEP 2: Place your hinges on the panels.

STEP 3: Draw circles where the holes in the hinges lay.

STEP 4: Drill holes where your pencil marks are.

STEP 5: Screw in your hinges.

Now you should have a bi fold fireplace screen. I love the farmhouse character this adds to my fireplace. If you DIY one for yourself tag me on instagram @craftingthishouse, I’d love to see!
